Conch Snorkel Experience – Educational & Conservation Disclaimer
The Conch Snorkel Experience Tour is an educational program designed to inform visitors about the Queen Conch, its ecological importance, cultural significance, and its historical and contemporary value as a food resource in The Bahamas.
West End Ecology Tours is a conservation-driven eco-tourism company. The protection, restoration, and long-term sustainability of Bahamian marine resources are central to our mission. No harvesting of marine life occurs during this experience.
As part of our conservation practices, West End Ecology Tours supports and conducts responsible conch protection measures, including the relocation of undersized juvenile conch to suitable and protected habitat zones to improve survival rates and future reproductive success.
This tour represents the formal public introduction of an initiative that has been quietly, responsibly, and continuously conducted for more than 15 years, grounded in traditional Bahamian knowledge, field observation, and a strong commitment to marine stewardship and intergenerational sustainability.

WELCOME TO THE CAPITAL OF GRAND BAHAMA
West End is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in Grand Bahama Island, with roots stretching back to the Lucayan people, who lived in close harmony with the sea and coastal ecosystems. In the late 1700s and early 1800s, Loyalists, fishermen, wreckers, and boat builders established West End as a strategic maritime outpost, thanks to its proximity to Florida and the rich waters of the Little Bahama Bank.
In the modern era, West End evolved into a gateway for sport fishing, yachting, and eco-adventure tourism, anchored by developments such as Old Bahama Bay. Despite hurricanes, economic shifts, and global change, West End has retained its strong sense of community, maritime heritage, and deep respect for the ocean—qualities that continue to define its character today.
